Job Description

Constellation Search Group is looking for a Director of Ambulatory Surgical Centers for a full-time direct hire leadership position. The Director of ASCs oversees and directs the organization's ASC reputation with physicians, patients, third-party payors, and the community at large. The Director of ASCs is accountable for effective personnel management, financial management of the ASC locations as well as managing internal matters, such as staffing, clinical oversight, and inspection preparedness.

Responsibilities:
  • In accordance with clinical practice standards, ensure staffing, business development, and in conjunction with the COO, CFO, and Human Resources, will construct and implement all policies and procedures pertaining to the operation of the ASC sites, including business development.
  • Responsible for the ASC department's P/L budget; including the development of budgets and performance metrics for area.
  • Oversees and directs all financial matters within the ASC department.
  • Achieves the objectives of the ASC sites through establishing administrative policies in conjunction with the administration and clinical teams, coordinating activities within the ASC sites, and assuring that operations of the ASC sites meet with the organization's high standard of care.   • Complies with the requirements of any governmental or regulatory bodies having jurisdiction in the premises or use of the ASC sites, to meet such quality standards as set forth by the selected accrediting agency and assist the clinical teams to ensure that medical practices and procedures meet such standards.
  • Works in partnership with administrative and physician leadership of the organization to develop, implement and monitor the financial and business operation plans required to manage the infrastructure of multiple service lines and to support multiple physician practices within the assigned services.
  • Supports the strategic direction set by the organizational leadership in setting short and long-term strategic goals for physician relations within the practice referral base, performance improvement, operational efficiencies and financial judiciousness.
  • Develops plans to meet the needs of the patient population as it relates to service distribution within facilities serving multiple clinical service lines.
  • Working through subordinate personnel, directs services, operations, and ambulatory sites/specialties by providing leadership and strategic direction.
  • Approves procedures/protocols and/or seeks other departmental approvals as appropriate.
  • Works directly with Human Resources to approve personnel actions such as hires, terminations, disciplinary actions, and ensures timely completion of performance appraisals.
  • Collaborates with ambulatory services managers to achieve consistency within ambulatory operations hospital-wide. Organizes services required to manage the infrastructure of facilities serving multiple service lines, as well as support for physician practices.
  • Works closely with patient care areas and support departments to address and resolve physician and patient issues.
  • Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations.
  • As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations.
Qualifications/ Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in health care administration, a business degree supplemented with medical-organization experience, or a clinical degree supplemented with medical-business experience. Others with a similar, but not identical education and experience are welcome to apply.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive responsibility and experience in a practice with (preferably several) ASC facilities.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in facilities administration, physician practice administration, or related area including at least three years' leadership/supervisory experience. Rev.20200615
  • Minimum of three years of experience budgeting for payroll and site expenses and revenue in a medical practice.
  • Effective working knowledge of healthcare financial management, specifically surgery center accounting, third party reimbursement issues, patient flow and facilities management.
  • Significant experience working in a non-hospital non-healthcare system medical environment.
